Creating Sustainable Value Chains

An estimated one billion livelihoods across the world depend on the agri-textile-garmenting industry. This huge figure puts the frequent stories about child labour abuses, gender discrimination and environmental degradation in the industry into perspective.

Pi Foundation is a new charity that inverts the current inequalities within this industry. Our mission is to enable marginalized groups within the industry to play a proactive role in designing progressive enterprise models that achieve their economic independence, fair working conditions and sustainable production.

Pi Foundation was set up in October 2009. It has been born out of five years of work by Pants to Poverty, a Fairtrade organic underwear brand which itself emerged out of the Make Poverty History Campaign in 2005. As a brand, Pants to Poverty is concerned with the integrity and transparency of their supply chain and in addressing the gaps and issues in their own supply chain they wanted to share their learning in best practice.
