Worker Owned Garmenting

Worker Owned garmenting factory, Thailand

Funding pipeline

In July 2009, 1959 garment workers in Bangkok were dismissed by Body Fashion Thailand a subsidiary of Triumph. The workers feel that they were dismissed due to their participation in the union and the level of their expertise reflected in their wages. 30 of the women have set up on their own under the company name ‘TryArm’.

We are working with these women to set up a democratically run, worker owned company producing the first Fairtrade brand in Thailand. The marketing focus of the factory would be twofold: high quality lingerie, transparent ethical supply chain (fair-trade source of fibre and ensured labour standards)
